Uttarakhand, which was formerly known as Uttaranchal is a state of India, located in the North of India at the foothills of the Himalayas. Its popularly known as devbhumi owing to the presence of many Hindu temples and pilgrimages across the state. Uttarakhand is formed in November 2000 after it is separated from the Uttar Pradesh. Today, it has 13 districts, capital is Dehradun, area is around 51,000 square kilometers and the population is around 1.01 crores.It is bordered by China to the North; bordered by Nepal to the East; by Himachal Pradesh to the West and by Uttar Pradesh to the South.
Most of the cities of Uttarakhand are popular tourist destinations such as Haridwar, Rishikesh, Nainital, Mussoorie and more.
The state is rich in flora and fauna and offers favorable climatic conditions for both floriculture and horticulture and is home to many species of rare aromatic and medicinal plants.
